Info & Applications
We have included some background info here to help you make an informed choice about getting a Parking Permit at Jordanhill. Or you can ignore all that and just... Apply now
Travelling to Jordanhill
Whilst travelling to the campus by car may seem to be a relatively easy option, this is not actually the case.
As current students will be aware and new students will soon find out, there are 500 student car parking spaces on campus for a total student population of 3,500.
While there is no charge for on-street parking, the neighbourhood of Jordanhill comprises many terraced houses and flats. This leads to residents parking on the street outside their own home. As you cannot park over drive ways, on corners, on restricted areas due to school children crossing (there are 2 schools in the immediate area) it can mean that you have to walk much further from your parked car than if you had used public transport.
The 500 student campus parking spaces are controlled by issue of a permit and an application form on this site. Priority will be given to those with greatest need and then, should there be any permits still available, a draw will be held. If you don’t have a parking permit you will not be allowed on campus with a car.
Students starting mid-August on either the Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary) or (Secondary) may not appreciate the extent of the demand for spaces until all classes are in full swing at the end of September.
Public Transport – your options…
We would urge you to consider using other forms of transport where possible:
Bus
There is a bus stop at the foot of the main drive and many buses which stop on Crow Road (10 minute walk) or on Great Western Road (10 minute walk to rear entrance of the campus). There is also an inter-campus bus service which is free of charge.
Train
There are two train stations within walking distance – Jordanhill (10 minute walk) and Anniesland (20 minute walk to the rear entrance of the campus)
So in summary...
There are many ways to travel to the Jordanhill campus which are environmentally friendly, promote health and well being and do not put residents and school children in the neighbourhood at risk. Please apply for a car parking space only if there is essential need and bear in mind that, given the limited number of spaces, even then we may not be able to accommodate your request.
Application Deadline:
Current students should apply for a permit now.
The deadline for current students and PDGE Primary and Secondary students is the 31st of August 2010
