Student Executive

2008-09

The Executive Committee are elected to represent you and run your Union on a day-to-day basis.

The following officers began office on July 1st 2008

President:

Neil Campbell

President - Neil Campbell Neil is 22 and is taking a year-long break from his Politics and Economics degree.  After growing up in the Highlands, he moved to Glasgow seeking fame, fortune and adventure.  Although still largely unheard of outside the Union and maintaining a large student overdraft, his time at Strathclyde has been an adventure none the less.

After struggling with chemistry for two years, he realised that he was more of a political animal, a decision that he blames entirely on his involvement with the Debates Society and the Student Representative Council.  As President, Neil is the chief representative of Strathclyde students to the University, the media, NUS and to the wider world.  It is his job to make sure that the other student officers are carrying out their roles and fulfilling union policy, whilst keeping a watchful eye on all of the Association’s finances.  But don’t forget: You are his boss!

Neil’s focus this year is on making sure that the executive are out on campus as often as possible, so that you can speak to them directly about any issues that you want to raise, or to find out more about what the Union offers.  You can find Neil’s office on Level 10

His "student involvement" began with the Strathclyde Telegraph, serving as elect News Editor in his 3rd year.  These are just some of the enjoyable; rewarding opportunities that Ben seeks to ensure are open to all, particularly home students.
