Me
Some boring stuff so you know who I am: I'm Adam Wagner, a third year (gulp) PhD student, studying Statistics. For those that are familiar with the area, I research spatial time series prediction.

I have been to a number of universities in my academic “career”, from Cambridge in England for my BA, Edinburgh for my Masters and finally here to get, hopefully, my doctorate. This is the first time I've got involved in student union activities, so hopefully I can make some small changes to make Postgrad life better at Strathclyde.

I feel it is better to get involved and change things, than just moan about how they should be run. To that end, I would encourage you to get involved with the Union if there are things you want changed at the Union, or more widely in Strathclyde. A fine place to start is by joining the Student Council where motions are passed that affect all parts of student life, and motions can be passed to petition the University for changes. The more Postgrads that join the council, the more the agenda can be slanted towards Postgrad issues. If you are feeling like being even more active, I strongly encourage you to run to be the next Postgrad Officer – it can mean a bit of work, but not masses. It puts you in highest level of officers in a Union, a place you can really campaign for changes. And from a more selfish point of view, it can so show you are not just strong academically, but demonstrate people skills: all good for the CV!
