Campaigns Team

A student stereotype that’s actually true!  Yes, campaigns are a big part of what a Students’ Union is all about whether it be campaigning for things within the University itself like recent successful campaigns to allow students to drink water in the library and to get anonymous marking or joining from round the UK to campaign in London, Cardiff & Edinburgh to make a stand against top-up fees, Strathclyde student have a tradition of being there on the front lines placards at the ready and a megaphone at hand.

You are sure to have seen pictures of students on the streets with banners and signs or heard interviews with students suffering because of the lack of financial support they have.  Now that you’re a Strathclyder though you’ll also no doubt be approached by people asking you to get involved and support various campaigns.  You might want to get involved with running campaigns or might just have time to sign a petition but campaigning is an important part of a Students’ Union so take time to see what the issue is and how you can help.  Remember too that the student voice is very load so if there is an issue you think The Union should be working on let them know, The Union is here to represent your views after all.

If you have an issue to raise contact any member to The Union Executive committee, if you want to get involved with the campaign The Union runs e-mail the Vice-President Support & Campaigns.  Campaigns are a great way not only to change your own situation at university but to leave a legacy for future students, so get involved and when the time comes leave not only with your degree but the knowledge that you made a difference.
