Some areas in Glasgow with a number of student lets:
Dennistoun and Townhead: these areas are popular with Strathclyde students as they are within easy walking distance of the University.
West End: traditionally a student area, many streets appear to be almost exclusively made up of flats with student tenants. It is further from Strathclyde, but good transport links with the Underground.
City Centre: A number of private accommodation companies have opened in Glasgow in recent years, offering self-catering rooms similar to student halls. There are also other private lets available, especially around Cowcaddens.
Glasgow has an extensive public transport system, often making it convenient (and cheaper) to live outside of the usual student areas, for example in the south of the city.
Once you've decided who you want to share with and where you'd like to live, listed below are some of the main places holding information on student flats & rooms:
Accommodation Office (Graham Hills Building): Residence and Catering department of the University holds lists of properties available to let to students.
Private Accommodation Database (PAD): for students at any of the Glasgow Universities. www.accom.gla.ac.uk/pad
register with your matriculation number (from your student card) to find available properties.
Local newsagents: some local shops and newsagents have boards in the window with information on flats to let or rooms available in shared flats, the best thing to do is get hunting.
Newspapers / Magazines: Glasgow newspapers with property sections have some information on rental properties: Evening Times (Tuesday), Herald (Wednesday). The List magazine and AdTrader, both available in newsagents, also hold some flatshare information, although not specifically for students.
You can also find information online: -

www.accommodationforstudents.com/glasgow.asp

www.lettingweb.com/
