WE NEED AN INCLUSIVE EDUCATION, AND ENVIRONMENT. WE ARE URGING THE UNIVERSITY OF STRATHCLYDE TO:

  • Establish a working group that can directly seek to address these issues, with the ultimate goal of LGBT+ inclusion in all university curricula and pastoral care resources
  • Set up a campus wide coordinated approach to tackling hate – involving LGBT+ society, Strathclyde Students’ Union, Equality and Diversity office, and the working group that will be established
  • Establish a flexible discrimination incident reporting system and ensure systematic recording of these reports is maintained
  • Guarantee that all departments have the financial means to send a representative to the LGBT+ training programmes that are currently available
  • Ensure that all departments send a representative to training to become the LGBT+ contact within their department, and that the details of this contact are widely known within their department, student reps, and the student population
  • Carry out departmental reviews to evaluate whether individual departments are creating an LGBT+ inclusive learning environment
  • Ensure that University counselling service are trained in handling LGBT+ issues
