Go Global 2.0

The Union is excited to bring back our successful initiative for another year! The GoGlobal project is designed to create student ambassadors from those backgrounds who are least likely to go on international exchange; mature and disabled students, and those from widening access backgrounds (check to see if you're a widening access student here: http://www.strath.ac.uk/studywithus/wideningaccess/).

With Brexit on the horizon, international exchange and opportunities for internationalisation are more important then ever. This time, the project has been designed to tie in with the YOFest! 2017! The Youth Opinion Ferstival brings young Europeans together in a festival environment to exchange ideas, politics and culture, and will be a great addition to the GoGlobal experience. This will not only allow students to get a feel for another city and campus whilst visiting the University of Maastricht, but will also allow our students to participate in a dialogue about their place in the world as global citizens.

The trip will run from Sunday the 5th of February till Wednesday the 8th. We will visit the University of Maastricht on Monday and Wednesday, and participate in YOFest! 2017 on the Tuesday. Much of the trip will be filmed, and upon your return you'll be asked to write up your experiences. These will be used by The Union and the University in helping to encourage students from backgrounds similar to yours to participate in the exchange opportunities offered here at Strathclyde.

We're operating on a tight timescale for this project so get your applications in quickly. The deadline is Wednesday the 25th of January at 12:00. If selected, any details we need from you to arrange travel and accommodation must be given in full by 17:00 on Monday the 30th of January, if you don't hand these in then we cannot guarantee you will be able to join us!

So, if you're interested in a free trip to The Netherlands for three days, seeing new places, experiencing other cultures and institutions, and catching a glimpse of what an international exchange opportunity could be like for you, then apply below!

Cheers troops,

Liam McCabe, Vice President Volunteering and Development.
