Scottish Mental Health First Aid Training

As part of our Healthy Body Healthy Mind campaign we're rolling out training opportunities for anyone who wants to become a Scottish Mental Health First Aider. We've trained 285 people since starting to roll out training last year and now is your chance to sign up and get regular updates about training dates.

The course requires you to complete a 12 hour course which covers topics including attitudes towards mental health, depression, anxiety, self-harm, psychosis and suicide. You’ll also learn about recovery and have a chance to develop your listening skills. This course is not about making you a mental health worker but you will gain insight, knowledge and understanding to help remove stigma and fear and to give confidence in approaching a person in distress.

Please note you must attend all four of the sessions to receive your certificate.

The course is free but due to people dropping out at short notice or not turning up at all last year we're decided to start asking for a £10 deposit for your place on the course. This is refundable once you've completed the course.   Once you're signed up to join our waiting list you'll get regular updates of new training dates to or you can view current courses that are available!

If you've any questions in the meantime please just get in touch! If you'd like to know more about SMFHA check out their website.

Please note that you have to be logged in to see and fill in the application form.
