Scottish Mental Health First Aid Training
As part of our Healthy Body Healthy Mind campaign we're rolling out training opportunities for anyone who wants to become a Scottish Mental Health First Aider. We've trained 305 people since starting to roll out training last year and now is your chance to sign up and get regular updates about training dates.
The course requires you to complete a 12 hour course which covers topics including attitudes towards mental health, depression, anxiety, self-harm, psychosis and suicide. You’ll also learn about recovery and have a chance to develop your listening skills. This course is not about making you a mental health worker but you will gain insight, knowledge and understanding to help remove stigma and fear and to give confidence in approaching a person in distress.
Please note you must attend all four of the sessions to receive your certificate.
Once you're signed up to join our waiting list you'll get regular updates of new training dates or you can sign up for one of our current sessions by adding your full name here. Our current sessions are running on the following dates and will be our last for a little while as our in-house trainer is about to leave The Union.
• Group A: Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th April (10am-6pm each day)
• Group B: Monday 10th & Tuesday 11th April (9am-5pm each day)
• Group D: Monday 24th & Tuesday 25th April (9am-5pm each day)
